About Us

Hello, and welcome to Pittstown Soapworks!

I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to you for your interest in my handmade “lye” soaps.  I’ve been making soap since January, 2000, and to this day, I am still asked, “What made you decide to make soap?”

It’s an easy answer... I have always been a self-proclaimed “soap snob” and love to use luxurious hand-milled and scented soaps.  One day, out of curiosity, I bought a “soap making kit” and began the quest for the perfect soap.  At first I was nervous, but after my first batch I was hooked, and it seemed to come naturally.  I began with just basic recipes and later branched out to the more “fancy” soaps and essential oils.

I became more confident after several people tried my soaps who were not relatives or close friends; they raved about my soaps and wanted more!  Everyone who tried them urged me to branch out and allow the rest of the world to experience them.

My soaps are made in very small batches and tested on my own family (not animals) for both sensitivity and aesthetics.  It is not until I am personally satisfied, that the products are packaged for sale.

I use ONLY the highest quality oils and scents.  There are no animal products used, and it takes a minimum of 3 weeks for each batch to be “ready” for use.  Because each batch is individually made, there can be slight differences in color, shape and texture.

Pittstown Soapworks is listed in the PETA Guide for Caring Consumers on an ongoing basis (since 2004), We pass their strict code of being animal friendly.

If there is a particular combination of formula/scent that you do not see listed on my website and would like to try, I will make a custom batch, just for your specifications.

In 2008 I moved to Oklahoma. Because my New Jersey customers didn’t want to see me leave, I decided to keep the name Pittstown Soapworks.

Today, my soaps are more artisan, but the same great gentle cleansing formula I created is in each and every bar. And I am STILL a soap snob!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story!  Enjoy!
